Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
One of the fundamental responsibilities of academic publishing is to ensure the long-term accessibility and integrity of published content, regardless of technological changes. The Cardiovascular Academy Society has developed policies aligned with international publishing standards to preserve digital academic content and ensure sustainable access for its official journal.
Digital Preservation Approach
Digital preservation encompasses a set of technical and institutional practices aimed at preventing content from being lost, corrupted, or rendered inaccessible over time. This process includes safeguarding data integrity, creating alternative access routes, and maintaining infrastructure prepared for emergencies.
Website and Content Archiving
All online content of the journal — including articles, supplementary files, images, metadata, and web pages — is backed up and preserved on multiple secure servers. The primary versions of the content are hosted on the journal’s website to ensure continuous access. Additionally, backups are maintained on independent servers located in different geographical regions, and rapid recovery protocols are implemented in the event of data loss. The system infrastructure is designed to enable restoration and renewed access to content within 24 to 36 hours in critical situations.
Indexing and External Archives
The journal is included in various national and international abstracting and indexing platforms. These databases not only enhance visibility but also serve as external archiving points by hosting article metadata or full texts. In this way, content is preserved within an independent, sustainable, and broad-based access network.
Authors’ Archiving Rights
In line with open science principles, the Association supports authors’ rights to archive their own publications. Authors may share the published version of their articles (Version of Record) on:
- Personal academic websites
- Institutional open repositories
- Subject-specific archive platforms (e.g., PubMed Central, arXiv)
In such cases, the full bibliographic citation of the article must be provided, along with a direct link to the original version on the journal’s website.
Institutional Commitment
With its multilayered and distributed digital preservation infrastructure, the Cardiovascular Academy Society is committed to ensuring the secure, permanent, and long-term accessibility of the academic content published in its journal. This policy serves the protection of academic heritage, the continuity of scientific knowledge, and the promotion of open access values.
