Editorial Oversight Policy
The reliability of scientific publications is directly linked to the transparent, ethical, and impartial conduct of editorial decisions. The Cardiovascular Academy Society supports the adoption of a publication process for its official journal based on high academic standards, ethical integrity, and independent editorial governance. This policy outlines the principles and expectations that guide editorial processes.
Editorial Independence
The Association advocates for all editorial decisions to be made with full independence by the responsible editor(s). Decision-making processes must remain free from influence by association management, sponsors, commercial partners, or external pressures. Editors are appointed based on expertise, academic merit, and commitment to publishing ethics. They bear direct responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the journal’s scientific content.
Peer Review Process and Scientific Evaluation
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated through a transparent and impartial double-blind peer review system in accordance with international ethical publishing standards. At least two independent reviewers assess submissions based on the following key criteria:
- Scientific originality and contribution
- Methodological rigor
- Ethical compliance and approvals
- Consistency and clarity of findings
- Adequacy of reporting and reproducibility
Confidentiality must be maintained throughout the review process, and all parties are expected to uphold an unbiased approach.
Ethical Compliance and COPE Guidance
Editors are expected to adhere to COPE, ICMJE and other relevant international guidelines in all research and publication ethics matters. Suspected ethical violations should be investigated independently, confidentially, and with proper documentation following COPE flowcharts.
Transparency, Methodological Clarity, and Reproducibility
The Association encourages all published content to include sufficient methodological detail and data transparency. Editors are expected to prioritize manuscripts aligned with reproducibility and verifiability principles. Submissions lacking ethical approval or sufficient data reporting may be excluded from the editorial process.
Management of Conflicts of Interest
Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where any personal, academic, or financial conflict of interest exists and disclose such conflicts openly. In such cases, the review process is transferred to an impartial editor to uphold the principle of fair decision-making.
Editorial Development and Continuous Education
The Association values the professional development of its editorial team. Regular training and informational opportunities are provided, covering topics such as handling ethical issues, current approaches to peer review, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies in publishing.
The Cardiovascular Academy Society considers the adoption of these editorial oversight principles and the conduct of publication processes based on ethical publishing, scientific merit, and compliance with international standards as a core institutional responsibility.
